Donna Tong has a diverse range of work experience. Donna started their professional journey as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in 2017. In the same year, they also began working as a Mathematics Tutor, helping middle school students improve their academic performance in Mathematics, Chemistry, and English.
In 2018, Donna interned for the Bond Credit Team at Morningstar, where they handled daily bond reports and collected data for analyst reports and presentations. Donna continued to gain internship experience in 2019 as a Summer Intern for the Economics Department at the University of Chicago, and in 2020 as an Intern at Ariel Investments.
Donna's most significant role was as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Chicago Department of Immunology, where they managed a cancer therapy project, oversaw team members, and contributed to a publication in Cell Reports. Donna also created a project grant, presented research at a symposium, and conducted various experimental protocols. Donna received training in mouse husbandry, safety protocols, and FBI certified for irradiator access during this time.
In addition to their research work, Donna served as a Chapter President at The American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative in 2023. Donna showed leadership skills and dedication to the organization's mission.
