Mary Casey-Baker has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Mary is currently serving as the Chief Content Officer and Executive Editor at The Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington, a position they have held since February 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Director of Publications and Digital Media at the same institute from January 2017 to March 2022. Mary also worked as the Deputy Director of Program Outreach and Communication from March 2015 to January 2017.
Alongside their work at the institute, Mary has pursued freelance work as a Sound Designer and Audio Mixer since 2009. Mary has also gained experience in journalism, working as an Editor for the Middle East Daily Brief at Foreign Policy from April 2014 to February 2015, and as an Assistant Editor for The Middle East Channel from August 2011 to April 2014.
Mary has also worked at The Washington Post as an Assistant Editor for The Monkey Cage from March 2014 to February 2015. Prior to that, they served as the Assistant Director of Public Affairs and later as the Executive Associate at The George Washington University - Project on Middle East Political Science from July 2011 to February 2015.
Mary started their career as an Audio Mixer at Henninger Media Services from 2002 to 2009 and gained initial experience as an Intern to Music Supervisor at Fox News Channel from May 2001 to August 2001.
Mary Casey-Baker obtained a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Industry from James Madison University from 1998 to 2002. Mary then pursued further education and completed a Master of Arts degree in International Development Studies, Conflict Resolution, and Middle Eastern Studies from The George Washington University, Elliott School of International Affairs between 2009 and 2011.
