Yasser Elsheshtawy

Yasser Elsheshtawy is a Non Resident Fellow and Visiting Scholar at The Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington since January 2018, while also serving as an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at Columbia University, where courses include "Urban Imaginaries: The Arab City in Film" and "Arab Modernism(s): Experiments in Housing, 1945-Present." Previously, Yasser held the position of Visiting Professor at Université Sorbonne Paris Cité in late 2017, and before that, worked as an Associate Professor at UAE University from 1997 to 2017, supervising thesis projects and teaching various architecture courses. In addition, Yasser served as a Curator for the National Pavilion UAE at the Venice Biennale from 2015 to 2016 and gained early academic experience as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and Penn State University. Yasser holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a Master’s Degree in Architecture from Penn State University, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Cairo University.
