Cass Flowers

Cass Flowers is the current Head of IT at The Babraham Institute. Prior to this, they spent six years at EMBL-EBI, first as Outreach Programme Project Leader and then as Special Projects Leader - Outreach. In these roles, they coordinated and delivered educational outreach activities, scientific outreach programmes, conferences, and events. Cass also oversaw the successful organisation of the annual science and society event by the EBI's PhD students.

Cass has a passion for using technology to make a difference in the world. As Head of IT at The Babraham Institute, they are responsible for leading a team of IT professionals who provide support and advice to researchers, deliver innovative solutions to problems, and ensure that the institute's IT infrastructure is up-to-date.

Cass Flowers was educated at Durham University, where they studied cell biology, before going on to study for a PhD at the University of East Anglia. Their research focused on the characterisation of GIGANTEA, an Arabidopsis gene that controls circadian rhythms and flowering time.

Cass Flowers reports to Simon Cook, Acting Institute Director. Some of their coworkers include Elizabeth Wynn - equality4success Manager, Robert Pyke - Assistant Director of Operations & CIO, and Adrian Bath - Babraham Campus Engineering Lead.
