Bilal Hammoud is a research scientist at The Boston Dynamics AI Institute since February 2023, focusing on optimal control for uncertain contact interactions in articulated robots as part of the Machines in Motion Lab under Professor Ludovic Righetti. Previously, Bilal completed a PhD in Robotics at New York University from September 2017 to January 2023, where involvement included both a research role and an internship at Dextrous Robotics, developing a control framework for a robotic manipulator. Prior research experience includes a doctoral researcher position at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, specializing in robust optimal control for uncertain contact interactions from January 2017 to December 2020, building a solid foundation in the field after earning a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
