Cathaleen Curtiss has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of photography and visual storytelling. Cathaleen served as the former Director of Photography at The Buffalo News, where they focused on improving the process for photographers to work collaboratively in a changing media landscape. Cathaleen was also the Managing Director of JPGmag.com at 8020 Media, Inc., an online platform for photography enthusiasts. Additionally, Cathaleen worked at Daemen College, where they held roles as the Director of Experiential & Creative Learning and the Entrepreneurial Programs Coordinator. Cathaleen has also worked independently as a Visual Presentation Consultant, assisting individuals and organizations with their visual strategies.

Their earlier experiences include serving as the Vice President of Global Photography at AOL Media, where they managed a multi-million dollar budget and oversaw a large staff of visual content editors. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Photography at AOL and built a photography team from two photo editors to nearly 60.

Cathaleen's career in photography began at The Washington Times, where they worked as an Assignment Editor and a Photographer. During their time there, they covered a wide range of events and was named Photographer of the Year by the White House News Photographers Association. Cathaleen also worked as a Photographer at The Lorain Journal and the Amarillo Globe News early in their career.

Cathaleen Curtiss obtained a Master of Science degree in Executive Leadership and Change from Daemen University, which they attended from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Journalism and Photography at Central Michigan University from 1976 to 1980. In 1979, they also briefly attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, although the specific degree and field of study are unknown.
