Lauren Padilla-Valverde

Managing Director, Racial Equity, Culture & Practice at The California Endowment

Lauren Padilla-Valverde has a diverse work experience spanning multiple sectors. Starting in 1990, they worked as the Manager of the Food Cooperative at the University of California San Diego. From 1993 to 1994, they served as a Health Educator/Family Planning specialist at Salud Para La Gente, Inc. During 1994 to 1995, they held the role of Assistant Program Director at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

In 1997, they joined GLIDE in San Francisco as a Clinic Administrator & Medical Assistant until 2000. From 2001 to 2002, they worked as a Program Coordinator for the Health Initiative of Americas at the University of California Office of the President. Then, from 2002 to 2003, they served as a Senior Health Sciences Analyst at the same organization.

From 2003 to 2004, they took on the role of Director of Academic Affairs for the Joint MSPAS/MPH Program at Touro University California. In addition, from 2004 to 2009, they served as the Director of the Joint MSPAS/MPH Program, successfully revitalizing and transforming the program.

Following that, they worked as a Clinician and Physician Assistant at Planned Parenthood: Shasta-Diablo from 2003 to 2009. Lauren then joined The California Endowment in 2009, where they held various positions including Program Officer, Program Manager, Senior Program Manager, and currently, as the Managing Director of Racial Equity Culture & Practice since May 2022.

Throughout their career, they have demonstrated their commitment to improving health outcomes, promoting racial equity, and building strong relationships with communities and stakeholders.

Lauren Padilla-Valverde completed their education at various prestigious institutions. Lauren attended Stanford University School of Medicine from 1997 to 2000, where they earned a degree in Physician Assistant through the Primary Care Associate Program. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Community Health and Preventive Medicine at Pace University. Subsequently, they returned to Stanford University School of Medicine to complete the Primary Care Program in Primary Care. Lastly, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from UC San Diego.
