Chas Edwards

Co-founder, President and Publisher at The California Sunday Magazine

Chas Edwards has over 25 years of experience in media and publishing. Chas began their career in 1994 as a Regional Sales Manager at CMP, Inc. In 1996, they moved to Ziff Davis's ZDTV / TechTV as the National Sales Manager. In 1999, they joined CNET Networks as the VP of Sales and Marketing, and then VP of Business Dev & Marketing Platforms. From 2005 to 2009, Edwards was the Co-founder, Publisher and Chief Revenue Officer at Federated Media Publishing (FM), where they built a portfolio of more than 150 sites reaching 50 million monthly uniques, and grew revenues from zero (2005) to $44 million (2009). From 2009 to 2010, they were the Publisher and Chief Revenue Officer at Digg, where they oversaw advertising sales, business development and public relations teams, and launched Digg Ads. From 2010 to 2013, they were the Chief Revenue Officer & Head of Publisher Development at Luminate Inc, where they pioneered the "Visual Targeting" ad system with pilot partners including McDonalds, L'Oreal, Revlon, Intel, Macy's and Samsung. From 2013 to 2020, they were the Co-founder, President and Publisher at Pop-Up Magazine Productions, where their work was named a finalist for seventeen National Magazine Awards, including Magazine of the Year, and won three, and was awarded Magazine of the Year by the Society of Publication Designers (SPDs) in 2018 and 2019. Fast Company included Pop-Up Magazine Productions in its Most Innovative Companies list (2019), and The Tribeca Film Festival presented Pop-Up Magazine with the Mark Twain Prize for Innovations in Storytelling at their Disruptive Innovation Awards (2019). In 2021, the California Sunday Magazine, which was published from 2014-2020, was awarded a Pulitzer Prize.

Chas Edwards attended Brown University from 1988 to 1992, where they earned a BA in Modern Culture & Media.
