Heather Nelson

Heather Nelson is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Boston Children's Hospital. Heather has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including their previous role as the Senior Director of Clinical Applications and IT Operations at Baystate Health. In this role, they oversaw the support for community-facing applications, enterprise data warehouses, and center for analytics. Heather also provided oversight for the strategic optimization of enterprise applications from both a workflow and information interoperability perspective.

Nelson began their career in healthcare as an Adjunct Professor at Elms College, where they co-taught a class on Information Systems in Healthcare & Nursing. Heather has also held positions at UChicago Medicine and Baystate Health.

Heather Nelson holds a MHA from Central Michigan University and a BS from Alma College. Heather also has certification from The Carol Emmott Foundation as a Carol Emmott Fellow and from CHIME as a Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO).
