Joanne Waszczak

Joanne Waszczak, MSW, serves as Council Vice President for the City of Hyattsville, Maryland, while also holding a role at the Federal Transit Administration as Special Assistant to the CFO in the Office of Budget and Policy since March 2017. With extensive experience in public engagement and transportation policy, Joanne has held various leadership positions, including Division Chief in the Office of Transit Safety and Oversight, managing emergency responses and compliance oversight. Joanne has facilitated numerous meetings and workshops, worked on national initiatives to engage communities in transportation decisions, and has a strong background in mentoring youth and young professionals. Educational credentials include a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Certificate in Metropolitan Studies from Virginia Tech.
