Ásta Bjarnadóttir has extensive experience in human resources and leadership roles. Ásta is currently serving as the Director of the Office of Job Development and Work Environment at The City of Reykjavik. Prior to their current role, they worked as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Landspitali University Hospital for five years. Before that, Ásta was a Consultant and Partner at Capacent Iceland from 2011 to 2015. Ásta also held positions at Reykjavik University as the Executive Director of Human Resources and Quality from 2007 to 2010, and as an Assistant Professor and Director of the BSc Program in Business Administration from 2001 to 2007. Ásta's earlier experience includes serving as the Director of Human Resources at deCODE genetics and Hagkaup / Baugur retailing.
Ásta Bjarnadóttir obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Háskóli Íslands between 1988 and 1992. Ásta then pursued a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Minnesota starting in 1993 and completing it in 1997.
