Alithia Barampataz is a seasoned professional in human rights, currently serving as a Human Rights Officer at The Commonwealth since April 2022. Prior experience includes roles as a Human Rights Officer with the United Nations Mission In South Sudan (UNMISS) and as a National Program Manager for UN Women's Women Make the Change initiative. Alithia also worked at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) as a National Human Rights Officer and served as a Counter-Trafficking Project Assistant at the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Earlier in the career, Alithia was an Assistant to the Ambassador at the Embassy of Papua New Guinea to the Americas. Academic qualifications include a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from Clark University.
