Anniek Schalij is currently a Stagiair at Zijkant, focusing on gender-sensitive urban development within Belgium's progressive women's movement. Since June 2022, Anniek has also worked at The Cottage, following experience as a Filiaalmanager and Medewerker at Sababa from July 2020 to March 2022. Additionally, Anniek is a founding member of the Environmental Youth Council (Jongerenmilieuraad), which enables young Dutch citizens to engage in the National Environmental Program shaping future Dutch environmental policy. Anniek's academic background includes a Master’s degree in Urban Environmental Management with a specialization in Land Use Planning from Wageningen University & Research, and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Geography and Urban Planning from the University of Amsterdam, complemented by a semester abroad at UCL studying Urban and Regional Planning and Human Geography.
