Barry Standen

Barry Standen has a consistently progressive work experience spanning over two decades. Barry is currently working as a Lead Cyber Security Consultant at Cyberfort Group since July 2022. Prior to this role, they served as a Senior Cyber Security Consultant at the same company starting from September 2021.

In 2021, Barry worked as an Interim Chief Operating Officer at Safe Steps Ltd, a product development company providing applications to the NHS. Barry was responsible for raising professionalism, introducing new services and processes, and implementing a roadmap for Information Security, Quality, and Clinical Compliance.

From 2013 to 2021, they held the position of Operations Director at Ixis IT, specializing in open-source technology. In this role, they played a crucial part in achieving next-level business performance and was accountable for strategic and business planning.

Barry joined Girlguiding UK, a leading charity for girls and young women, in 2010 as an Applications Delivery Manager. During this time, they contributed to the organization's volunteer and membership management.

In 2004, Barry founded Zenapt Vision Ltd, where they worked as a Director. Barry developed a client portfolio, partnered with a design and marketing firm, and provided hosting, programming, and technical support to multiple clients. Barry also designed and developed content management and e-commerce systems.

Before that, they served as the Head of Technical Services at Mando Group from 1999 to 2004. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Systems Developer at Sodexo in 1999.

Barry's career began as a Software Engineer at IMS Communications Limited in 1996. Barry managed software projects, developed multimedia applications, and collaborated with blue-chip clients like PwC and Microsoft on complex multilingual projects.

Barry Standen has a strong educational background in the field of technology. Barry first attended the University of Brighton from 1991 to 1993, where they earned a degree in Computing in Real Time Systems, focusing on Information Technology. Following this, Barry enrolled at Coventry University and studied Computer Hardware & Software Engineering, earning a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) degree from 1993 to 1996.

In addition to their formal education, Barry has also obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2004, they completed the PRINCE2® Foundation Certification Training offered by The APM Group Limited. Later, in 2012, Barry obtained the IT Information Library Foundations Certification (ITIL) from The Grey Matters Network and also underwent Management Training provided by Clarity Learning and Development.

Continuing their professional development, Barry attended a Management Workshop at Cheshire College - South & West in 2019. More recently, in 2020, they obtained a Certificate in Information Security Management Principles from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Additionally, Barry earned their Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in January 2021.
