Lana Dakan

Global Reproductive Health Director at The David and Lucile Packard Foundation

Lana Dakan has extensive experience in the field of global reproductive health. Lana is currently serving as the Global Reproductive Health Director at The David and Lucile Packard Foundation since May 2023. Prior to this, Lana worked with the foundation's Population and Reproductive Health Program, where they held the positions of Deputy Director and Program Officer starting in 2019 and 2006 respectively. Lana also worked as a Program Research Associate at The David and Lucile Packard Foundation & The Public Health Institute from 2003 to 2006. Before joining the foundation, Lana served as a Senior Technical Advisor and Technical Advisor at the United States Agency for International Development from 1995 to 2000. Lana started their career as a Project Manager at Pathfinder International in 1993 and began their professional journey as a Peace Corps Volunteer with the United States Peace Corps from 1989 to 1990.

Lana Dakan obtained a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Affairs from Occidental College, graduating in 1988. Lana later pursued further education at the University of Michigan from 1991 to 1993, where they completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a specialization in International Public Health/International Health. In 1991, Lana also attended the Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute at Cornell University, focusing on Indonesian/Malay Languages and Literatures.
