Tara Stoinski

Tara Stoinski has a significant amount of experience in the field of primate research and conservation. Tara is currently serving as the President & CEO/Chief Scientific Officer at The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, a position they have held since October 2014. Prior to this role, they were the Vice President/Chief Scientific Officer at the same organization from 2012 to 2014.

Before joining The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, Stoinski worked at Zoo Atlanta, where they held multiple roles. Tara served as the Director of Primate Research from an unspecified date in 2000 until 2011. Prior to that, they were the Manager of Conservation Partnerships from 2004 to 2011, and the Coordinator of Primate Research from 2000 to 2004.

In addition to their work at Zoo Atlanta, Stoinski also held the position of McGrath Chair of Research and Conservation at The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund from 2007 to 2011. Overall, their career has focused on primate research and conservation, with a particular emphasis on gorillas.

Tara Stoinski's education history begins with their Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Tufts University, which was completed in 1991. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Zoology/Animal Biology at the University of Oxford from 1992 to 1993. Continuing on their educational journey, Tara Stoinski attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Experimental Psychology from 1994 to 2000.
