Orla Hennessy

Orla Hennessy serves as the Interim Head of External Communications at The Electoral Commission since October 2019, previously holding the position of Media Relations and Communication Manager. Hennessy has experience in the public sector through a secondment in the Press Office of the Department of Health and Social Care for two months in 2020. Prior to this, Hennessy worked at the British Chambers of Commerce from November 2016 to October 2019 as Communications and Press Manager and as Senior Press and Communications Officer. Earlier roles include Communications Officer at R3 - The Association of Business Recovery Professionals (2014-2016), Policy and Communications Intern at the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland (2013-2014), and internships at the Embassy of Ireland and the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012. Hennessy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Trinity College Dublin, completed in 2013, and attended Rathdown School from 2003 to 2009.
