Kelly Yotebieng Ph.D., Mph

Kelly Yotebieng, PhD, MPH has extensive work experience in various organizations and roles. Kelly is currently working as an Adjunct Assistant Professor (part-time) at Hunter College since December 2021. Kelly is also serving as the Senior Director, Programs at The END Fund since June 2021, where they provide leadership for programs focused on eradicating neglected tropical diseases, with a particular emphasis on bridging gender inequalities and reaching marginalized populations in Francophone Africa.

Previously, Kelly worked at The World Bank as a Senior Gender and Social Impact Consultant from September 2013 to June 2021. In this role, they provided expertise in gender-focused research, strategy, program design and implementation to governments, multilateral institutions, and non-profits. Kelly advised on best practices and developed tools to address gender-based violence and sexual exploitation and abuse in development programs in Central and West Africa. Kelly also worked with organizations like Women for Women International and the United Nations Girls Education Initiative to provide program quality guidance and conduct research on harmful social norms limiting girls' access to education.

Kelly has also held fellowships and roles at The Ohio State University, United States Institute of Peace, Fulbright Program, and Connecting Organizations for Regional Disease Surveillance (CORDS). Kelly served as a Distinguished University Dissertation Writing Year Presidential Fellow and Randolph Jennings Peace Fellow at The Ohio State University, completing their doctoral dissertation in March 2019. At the United States Institute of Peace, they participated in policy discussions on how to make social science research useful in the policy arena. As a Fulbright Fellow, Kelly conducted research from September 2017 to August 2018.

Additionally, they worked as a Graduate Teaching Associate and Graduate Research Associate at The Ohio State University from April 2015 to May 2018, where they led mental health studies, analyzed data, and provided research support. Kelly also served as a Refugee Wellness Coordinator at Community Refugee and Immigration Services from October 2013 to December 2014, overseeing the establishment of a mental health and wellness program for refugees and conducting research on mental health needs.

Earlier in their career, Kelly worked at Catholic Relief Services in various roles, including Head of Programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Business Development Advisor in the Central Africa Regional Office. Kelly also served as an Interim Head of Office, Interim HIV Program Manager, and Equatorial Guinea PHC Program Manager in Cameroon.

In 2000, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Anthropology at the University of South Florida. Kelly then went on to earn a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a focus on Monitoring and Evaluation and International health and development from Tulane University in 2005. In 2009, Kelly Yotebieng pursued executive leadership training and received a Certificate from Cornell University. Finally, they achieved their highest level of education, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), in Medical Anthropology at The Ohio State University in 2019.
