Marco Marchesi's work experience begins in 2010 when they co-founded Wenuma, a geolocalized service connecting movie locations to tourist attractions. Marco led the technology behind the project, which received funding from the Emilia-Romagna local government. In 2010, they also worked as a Software Engineer for the Mobie project.
In 2012, Marchesi joined the University of Bologna as a Computer Researcher. Marco designed algorithms, applications, and devices for Human-Computer Interfaces, Gaming, Virtual and Augmented Reality. Marco conducted research with Brain-Computer Interfaces for education and entertainment, developed an EEG device, and prototyped GLOVR, a wearable device for VR applications.
From 2014 to 2014, Marchesi worked as a Software Engineer at Apple. In 2016, they joined Happy Finish as a Technical Lead, where they led the developers of the Interactive Team and conducted R&D for new technologies. Marco was later promoted to Head of Technology and then CTO. Their tenure at Happy Finish lasted until 2021.
Since 2021, Marchesi has been working as the CTO of The Fabricant. Marco is responsible for building a world-class technology team and developing "The Fabricant Studio," an NFT platform for digital fashion co-creation, trading, and wearing.
Throughout their career, Marchesi also worked as a Software Engineer at their own company, Marco Marchesi, where they developed software. Additionally, they worked as a Filmmaker/Animator, producing animated short movies, commercials, and music videos.
Marco Marchesi completed their education starting from 1996 to 2011, at the University of Bologna, where they obtained a BS + MS (MEng) Degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In 2006, they also pursued a trimester of studies at Institut Henry Poincaré, focusing on Quantum Physics and Quantum Communication. Later, from 2013 to 2015, they attended Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, and Information Technology. In terms of additional certifications, Marco Marchesi completed courses such as "Building High-Performance Teams" and "Coaching and Developing Employees" at LinkedIn in July 2018 and June 2018, respectively. Marco also obtained a certification in "Machine Learning" from Coursera in July 2013.
