Brent Treloar has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over 20 years. Brent started their career as a Business Advisor at Business Link Devon & Cornwall in 1997, where they supported over 700 clients in Cornwall across 15 years, focusing on various specialist programs related to finance, family businesses, tourism productivity, lean manufacturing, and Kaizen techniques.
In 2011, Brent became a Partner at UPBEAT Solutions, specializing in business support delivery and working with various delivery partners. Brent facilitated 1500 business diagnostics and gained 10 years of experience using the Forum 21 business development model. Although UPBEAT Solutions is currently inactive, Brent continues to seek delivery opportunities and offer business support to SMEs in Devon and Cornwall.
Brent joined Cornwall Development Company in 2012 as the Business Investment for Growth Programme Manager. During their 5-year tenure, they managed the BIG2 program, successfully securing a pipeline of interest of £750k and committed funds of approximately £1m. BIG2 aimed to deliver £3.6m in ERDF funding to Cornish SMEs from 2016 to 2018.
In 2017, Brent joined the University of Plymouth as an Innovation Advisor for AtI (Advancing Technologies and Innovation). Brent worked with 24 SMEs over a 15-month period to exploit their intellectual property and enhance business processes. Brent also facilitated ERDF investment of £152k into projects ranging from patented prototypes to the introduction of 6-axis Robotics.
Since 2018, Brent has been working as a Business Development Manager at The FSE Group. Their role involves seeking equity and debt investment opportunities with ambitious SMEs based in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Brent focuses on supporting these businesses through the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Fund, which aims to nurture entrepreneurship by providing investment and support until 2023.
Throughout their career, Brent has demonstrated a strong commitment to entrepreneurship, innovation, business support, and investment in SMEs. Brent possesses a wealth of experience in various sectors and has effectively collaborated with different organizations to drive business growth and development.
Brent Treloar attended Pool Comprehensive School from 1972 to 1977, where they did not pursue a specific degree or field of study. Later, from 1979 to 1982, they enrolled at Kingston University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics and Business Studies.
