Miki Kawano

Miki Kawano's work experience includes various roles and responsibilities in different organizations and companies.

From 2022 to the present, Miki worked as a Growth Marketing Associate at The GIST.

From 2019 to 2021, Miki served as the CEO & Co-founder of backr, a platform aimed at helping creators build sustainable businesses.

Within the same period, Miki was involved in the League of Innovators, where they founded LOI Labs Batch 3.

In 2019, Miki worked as the Konnect Female Entrepreneurship Program Lead at the Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Centre, where they created and developed a program for women interested in entrepreneurship. Miki also participated in the Queen's Innovation Centre Summer Initiative (QICSI) as part of the 2019 cohort, where they co-founded Backr and won a top prize at the Dunin-Deshpande Summer Pitch Competition.

At Queen's University, Miki held various roles. From 2019 to 2020, they were the Assistant Coach for Women's Ultimate Frisbee and a Teaching Assistant. From 2015 to 2019, Miki competed as a Varsity Athlete in the Queen's Women's Rugby program, earning silver medals and recovering from an ACL and meniscus reconstruction. Miki also served as a Student Athlete Academic Mentor, providing academic support to first-year varsity athletes.

Miki's involvement in extracurricular activities includes roles such as Marketing Director and Delegates Coordinator at the Queen's Sports Industry Conference, Camp Leader at the Town of Banff, Marketing Coordinator at the Exchange and Transfer Committee, and Socials and Membership Director at Q+.

Miki Kawano pursued their education from 2009 to 2015 at Banff Community High School, where they completed their High School degree. Miki later attended Queen's University from 2015 to 2019, obtaining their Bachelor's Degree in Business/Commerce, with a focus on General studies. In 2018, Miki also participated in a Study Abroad Semester at The University of Auckland, further enhancing their understanding in the field of Business/Commerce.
