Vandhana Bala, a GFI co-founder, is an attorney with twenty years of experience spanning a broad range of issues. For the past decade, Vandhana has advised non-profit organizations in advocating for a sustainable and ethical food supply. Vandhana began her legal career at Sidley Austin, a global law firm, and later started her own practice where she handled a wide range of commercial matters, companion animal issues, and criminal cases. As a social justice advocate, Vandhana achieved several precedent-setting legal victories in the enforcement of criminal laws to protect marginalized groups. She has lectured extensively at law schools and bar associations across the country and has been interviewed by dozens of media outlets on her work. Vandhana currently serves as General Counsel for an international food supply chain consulting firm and lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
