Craig Ross has a diverse work experience starting from 1998 to the present. Craig has held various roles in different companies. Beginning in 1998, they worked as a Software Engineer at Corel Corporation until 1999. From 1999 to 2001, they served as a Software Engineer at VA Linux Systems, where they were responsible for the development and maintenance of a Linux-based OS for custom hardware solutions. In 2002, they worked as an Art Director at Damage Studios. Then, they became a Managing Partner at Stereo Nightclub from 2003 to 2008. During this time, they established one of the world's first open source technology conferences, the Linux Symposium, where they handled various responsibilities such as managing the call for participation, speaker and community management, event sponsorship, and brand and event production.
Since 2008, Craig Ross has been associated with The Linux Foundation. Craig started as a Community Relations Manager and gradually progressed to become a Creative Services & Developer Programs Manager. In this role, they bootstrapped the creative services team, provided design, web, and event production support, and supported developer programming efforts through marketing initiatives, marketing automation, and community engagement. Craig was later promoted to the position of Director of Creative Services & Developer Programs, where they grew the creative design team and expanded support for open technology projects and core event and training initiatives.
Since November 2015, Craig Ross has been serving as a Creative Director at The Linux Foundation. In this role, they led both product design and brand design teams. Craig oversaw the UI and UX development for various tools and provided creative support for numerous open technology projects, including Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Kubernetes, LF Networking, OpenJS Foundation, and CD Foundation.
In January 2021, Craig Ross was promoted to Senior Director, Design & Web Engineering at The Linux Foundation. Craig led cross-functional brand design, product design, and web engineering teams. Under their guidance, the product design team successfully delivered high-fidelity screens in support of ongoing development efforts for new LFX platform tools. Additionally, they provided agency-level creative support for multiple open technology projects.
In September 2021, Craig Ross was promoted to their current position as Senior Director, Product Design at The Linux Foundation. In this role, they continue to lead the product design team, focusing on delivering high-quality designs for the LFX platform tools.
