Petr Fousek

Head Of Speech Research at The MAMA AI

Petr Fousek has a strong background in speech recognition and research. Petr is currently working as the Head of Speech Research at The MAMA AI since 2021. Prior to this, they had a long tenure at IBM, starting in 2008 as a Speech Recognition Software Specialist and then progressing to the role of Speech Recognition R&D. In their role at IBM, they focused on developing a Speech-to-Text engine for IBM Watson STT, with an emphasis on real-time, low latency processing and speech detection. Before joining IBM, Fousek worked as a Post-doc researcher at LIMSI-CNRS, where they implemented and developed methods for speech feature extraction based on spectral dynamics using neural networks. Petr also gained research experience as a Research Assistant at IDIAP Research Institute, specializing in Features Extraction for Automatic Speech Recognition.

Petr Fousek obtained a PhD in Automatic Speech Recognition from Czech Technical University in Prague from 2002 to 2007. Prior to that, they obtained an Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering from the same university from 1996 to 2002. Petr also holds additional certifications such as Plateau from IBM in December 2018 and Patent Issuance from IBM in October 2018.
