Abraham Joshua

Abraham Joshua has been a teacher and teaching assistant for the past four years. Abraham has worked at The Mission Preparatory School since August 2018, first as a teachers aide and then as a 5th grade science teacher. Abraham previously worked at Our Lady of Loretto Elementary School as a teachers aide from August 2017 to June 2018.

Joshua is originally from Los Angeles, California. Abraham attended college at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they majored in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Education and Social Justice. Abraham has always been interested in education and social justice, and their work experience has reflected that.

At The Mission Preparatory School, Joshua has been responsible for designing, teaching and executing science lessons for 24 fifth graders. Abraham has also collaborated on lesson plans with both teachers and deans, and has maintained positive rapport with parents and guardians. Abraham has also overseen attendance for 180 students with a 96% success rate. In addition, they have supported up to 8 students to set academic goals in small groups and 1:1 via zoom. Lastly, they have supervised and ensured that students complete asynchronous work correctly and completely.

At Our Lady of Loretto Elementary School, Joshua began by assisting all teachers from TK-8th grade and reinforced the instruction taught in the classroom. This eventually lead to becoming a substitute teacher and leading each class. Abraham went over lessons with students individually, answered questions and graded assignments. Abraham assisted with lesson planning and collaborated on ideas with teachers. Abraham also helped with the integration of technology into the classroom by setting up computers and projectors and also facilitated the after-school art club for students in grades TK-4th.

Joshua is a dedicated educator who is passionate about social justice. Abraham is committed to helping their students succeed both academically and in life.

Abraham Joshua holds a Master's degree in Special Education from San Francisco State University, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Child Development from the same school.
