Asmita Maitra

Asmita Maitra is a skilled geologist currently serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Royal Society and a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, focusing on carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas reduction through Enhanced Weathering in India. With extensive experience at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Asmita has worked in various roles, including Research Associate, Senior Project Officer, and Senior Doctoral Research Fellow, conducting in-depth studies on hydrothermal systems, geochemical characterization, and environmental impacts of fluoride contamination. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Geology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, complemented by a Master's degree in the same field and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Calcutta.
