William Lyons

Graduate Development Programme at The Scottish Government

William Lyons is currently engaged in the Graduate Development Programme at The Scottish Government since September 2023. Previously, as a Research Associate at the University of York from April 2022 to September 2024, William contributed to the DAISY Project, focused on developing a robot platform for A&E triage in hospitals. From September 2017 to September 2024, William served as a PhD Candidate at the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, and concurrently as a Teaching Assistant and Tutor at The University of Edinburgh, where involvement included delivering course material on Natural Computing, with emphasis on bio-inspired algorithms. Earlier experience includes working as a Junior Accountant at Colin Richardson Accountants Limited from August 2011 to August 2014, during which William obtained AAT qualifications. William holds a PhD in Robotics & Autonomous Systems and a Master of Science by Research in the same field from The University of Edinburgh, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Queen Mary University of London.
