Teacher at The Second City

Joy Tanner has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Since 1991, they have worked as a Professional Actor and Writer, gaining experience in the field. In 2014, they worked as a Blogger for BeMused Network until November 2021. In 2016, they became the Editor of Actra Performers Magazine and also joined The Second City as a Teacher. In 2020, Joy took on the role of Director of Philanthropy at 84Vikings4Good. Joy furthered their education by becoming a Student at the University of Toronto, Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies, starting in September 2020. In 2021, they became a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Toronto Digital Dramaturgy Lab Squared. Additionally, they hold leadership positions, including Vice President of ACTRA Toronto since 2022. Recently, they started working as an Acting Coach at AACE under their own company as a self-employed individual.

Joy Tanner completed their education in two different time periods. From 1984 to 1989, they attended SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Buffalo, and the British American Drama Academy. During this time, they obtained a BA Cum Laude/Diploma with a focus on English and Theater.

In 2020 and 2021, Joy Tanner pursued further education at the University of Toronto. Joy earned a Master of Arts - MA degree in Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies.
