Gary Petersen

Gary Petersen has a diverse work experience in the field of actuarial and health practice leadership. Gary began their career in 1983 at Watson Wyatt, where they served as the Phoenix Health Practice Leader and Director of Account Management. Petersen then moved on to Buck Consultants in 1994, where they held the position of Managing Principal, overseeing the Phoenix office. In 2004, they joined The Segal Company and worked as the West Region Health Practice Leader and Vice President. Petersen recently retired in March 2019 after serving as a Retired Math Man. Throughout their career, they have managed large clients, developed benefit strategies, and provided actuarial certifications and projections.

Gary Petersen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a focus on Insurance and Mathematics, from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to that, they attended Ralston High School. In addition to their formal education, Gary also holds the certification of Fellow of Conference of Consulting Actuaries and is a member of the Society of Actuaries.
