Valerie Dent

Valerie Dent currently serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Deputy for Student Success at The State University of New York, having taken on additional roles as Interim Chief Diversity Officer, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, and Chief of Staff to the Chancellor since March 2020. Previously, Valerie held the position of First Deputy Commissioner at the New York State Division of Human Rights from June 2013 to March 2020, overseeing operations and ensuring compliance with regulations. Other roles include Associate Counsel at the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation, Co-Founder of Write for the Future-College Admissions Essay Coaching Service, and Attorney in various capacities. Valerie holds a JD from Columbia Law School and a B.S. in Economics/Math from Vanderbilt University.
