Deidre Stalnaker has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Deidre started their career as a Public Relations Intern at HealthSouth Corporation in 2001 where they wrote press releases, media tip sheets, and articles for the organization's magazines. Deidre then worked as a Public Relations Assistant at the University of Alabama College of Engineering in 2002. In 2003, they joined the University of Alabama Office of Student Media as the Alumni Relations Coordinator and later as the Assistant Director/ASPA Coordinator. During this time, they were responsible for various marketing and promotional activities, including writing newsletters and press releases. In 2005, they became a Communications Specialist at the University of Alabama, where they developed public relations plans, edited printed magazines and newsletters, and managed communication with the media and community. In 2012, they joined the City of Tuscaloosa as the Communications Director, a role they held until 2018. Currently, they serve as the Executive Director of Communications at The University of Alabama.

Deidre Stalnaker holds a Master of Arts degree in Advertising and Public Relations from The University of Alabama, which they completed in 2004. Prior to that, they obtained two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism and Public Relations, as well as Political Science, from the same institution in 2003.
