Claus Daniel

Associate Lab Director, Advanced Energy Technologies at The University of Chicago

Claus Daniel is currently the Associate Laboratory Director for Advanced Energy Technologies at Argonne National Laboratory, where efforts focus on creating sustainable and equitable energy systems. Additionally, Claus serves as a Senior Scientist at the University of Chicago's Consortium for Advanced Science and Engineering, aimed at fostering interdisciplinary research collaborations. Previously, Claus held leadership positions at Carrier, significantly advancing engineering partnerships and steering the company towards net-zero carbon goals. At Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Claus directed numerous impactful energy programs and established the largest national lab battery manufacturing R&D facility. Claus has also contributed to academia as a professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and has been involved in various advisory and board roles throughout a notable career in materials science. Claus holds multiple degrees in Materials Science, including a Ph.D. from Universität des Saarlandes.
