Chela Niall

Chela Niall leads the Legal & Licensing team in the Institute’s Business Development Office. They work closely with the Commercialisation team to protect and support the translation and commercialization of the Institute’s intellectual property.

The Legal & Licensing team is responsible for the management of the Institute’s patent portfolio and for the preparation and negotiation of the agreements that underpin the Institute's relationships with academic and commercial collaborators and partners. They focus on providing commercial, pragmatic legal support for projects at all stages of their lifecycle.

Chela is a specialist technology commercialization lawyer, with many years of experience providing front-end legal support to progress medical research projects from the laboratory to the clinic and then to market. Prior to joining the Institute, she was a senior in-house lawyer at CSL, providing support to CSL’s global R&D and corporate strategy divisions.
