Mike Semel

Mike Semel is an experienced journalism professional, currently serving as Deputy Managing Editor and Local Editor at The Washington Post since March 2000, where responsibilities include overseeing the Metro news staff. Prior to this role, Mike worked at Bergen Record Corp from 1992 to 2000 as Deputy Local Editor for News and Investigations. Earlier experience includes serving as Assistant Managing Editor at Pilot Media, where Mike also held the positions of Reporter and Editor from 1988 to 1991. Academically, Mike Semel holds a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Pomona College.
