Silvester Noronha

Silvester Noronha, Ph. D, currently serves as Principal Engineer at Thea Energy since December 2023. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Engineer at Commonwealth Fusion Systems, focusing on high-field magnet designs for the SPARC nuclear fusion reactor, and Visiting Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Silvester Noronha also contributed as a Mechanical Engineering Consultant at Framatome, guiding calculations for nuclear power plant license renewals. Previously, as Project Mechanical Engineer at Imperia Engineering Partners, leadership in projects to ensure the safe operation of nuclear plants was executed. Silvester Noronha's foundational experience at Framatome involved leading investigations and producing over 200 technical reports on reactor components. Early research roles at UCLA, Virginia Tech, and the University of Oxford centered on the mechanical behavior of materials and fracture mechanics. Silvester Noronha holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Indian Institute of Science, alongside a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and related fields.
