Peng Shi

Principal R&d Engineer at ThermoLift

Peng Shi has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Starting in 2011, they worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Wuxi Weifu High-Technology Group Co., Ltd., where they designed and improved process equipment and implemented Lean Manufacturing measures. In 2017, Peng worked as a Solar Engineer at Paul Cataldo Architecture and Planning, conducting building energy audits and code compliance analyses for PV installations. From 2018 to 2021, they served as a Research Assistant at ThermoLift, Inc., where they developed a natural gas driven heat pump model and conducted simulations to analyze its feasibility and benefits. At Stony Brook University, Peng held multiple positions, including Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, and Graduate Facility Manager. In these roles, they conducted studies on the challenges facing the current energy grid, built Machine Learning pipelines for thermal load predictions, and coordinated routine operations and event setups. Most recently, Peng has been working at ThermoLift, Inc. as a Senior Quality Engineer and is currently serving as the Principal Energy System Engineer.

Peng Shi began their education at Harbin Institute of Technology in 2007 and completed their Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation in 2011. In 2013, they pursued English language studies at St. John's University. In 2014, Peng Shi enrolled in the New York Language Center to further enhance their English skills. During this time, from 2014 to 2016, they also attended Stony Brook University and obtained their Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Peng Shi then continued their academic journey at Stony Brook University, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering from 2016 to 2021.
