Amit Sandhu

Amit Sandhu has worked in a variety of roles since 2009. In 2009, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer Intern at National Fertilizers Limited. In 2011, they worked as a Physics Instructor at Aakash Educational Services Limited and as a Mechanical Engineer Intern at International Tractors Limited. In 2014, they completed their Master's Thesis at UC Irvine. Since 2015, they have been a Senior Design Engineer at Think Surgical. In this role, they design and develops products, including hardware, software, and design components on a surgical robotic platform. Amit also evaluates design models for ISO, DFM, form-fit-function compliance, satisfies specifications and manufacturability concerns. Additionally, they work on cadavers with Doctors/Surgeons to understand their requirements and take their feedback on products. Amit follows rigorous design control methodology and writes concise requirements specifications, architecture specifications, and design descriptions, verification plans, and test cases. Amit also has experience with CAD/CAM design and development in a Solidworks and Siemens NX environment, and has manufactured components with the help of rapid prototyping and machining processes. Amit has performed design FMEA and process FMEA to reduce the risk of failures at multiple system levels.

Amit Sandhu earned their Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjabi University between 2007 and 2011. Amit then went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from UC Irvine between 2013 and 2015.
