Marta Machado Gooder has extensive work experience in various roles related to media, journalism, and business development. Marta is currently the Head of Commercial Partnerships at Thomson Reuters Foundation since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Development Manager at Thomson Reuters Foundation from February 2019 to September 2021. Marta also has experience at Guardian News & Media as a Masterclasses Business Development Manager and Development Sales Manager from June 2018 to January 2019. Marta has been associated with Thomson Reuters Foundation since 2005, initially working as a Project Manager responsible for managing specialized training programs for journalists worldwide. Marta has also worked at CNN as an Event Coordinator, NewsXchange as an Event Manager, and Al Jazeera Media Network as a Chief Sub-Editor. Marta started their career with Thomson Reuters Foundation as a Course Coordinator from January 2002 to June 2003.

Marta Machado Gooder completed their education with a Masters degree in International Journalism from City, University of London in 2001. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics from UCL in 2000. Marta also completed their A-levels in Italian, French, and German at d'Overbroeck's College, Oxford from 1995 to 1997.
