Paul Schifferer

Paul Schifferer has a diverse work experience in the fields of DevOps engineering, software development, and systems administration. Paul is currently working at Thrive Market as a Senior DevOps Engineer. Prior to this, Paul worked at Pilgrimage Software as the Owner, where they started an independent Mac and iOS software company.

Paul also worked at CarLabs, where they held the position of Senior Site Reliability Engineer. During their time there, they were responsible for architecture, operation, and automation in AWS, GCP, and Azure. Paul achieved notable accomplishments such as migrating the entire microservices platform into Kubernetes (EKS) and redesigning the VPC/network architecture.

Before CarLabs, Paul worked at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a DevOps Engineer and at DWA NOVA as a DevOps Engineer. At DWA NOVA, they built out new virtual environments using OpenStack and configured servers using Puppet Enterprise and Ansible. Paul also created and maintained Docker images for installed software.

Paul's previous experience includes working at DreamWorks Animation as a Software Developer and IT Software Developer. During their time at DreamWorks Animation, they designed and developed microservices for social games based on DreamWorks Animation movies. Paul also worked on application integration components and web-based applications.

Earlier in their career, Paul worked at Edmunds as a Senior Platform Engineer, where they created internal tools and integration components. Paul also worked on customizations for the company's internal systems. Before that, they worked at Interactive Video Technologies as a Senior Systems Administrator, where they managed external-facing servers and designed a media appliance. Paul started their career at Hosting.com as a Senior Systems Administrator, where they managed the Tier 2 Technical Support team and the DNS servers.
