Justin (he/him) teaches voice lessons and music technology courses, and directs musical theatre productions for TU. He holds a Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy with an emphasis in Contemporary Commercial Music from Shenandoah University and a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music from Brigham Young University. He is a commissioned choral/vocal arranger, writes instrumental music and orchestrations, transcribes music and creates sheet music for clients, and accompanies soloists and ensembles in various recorded and live settings. He has worked as a recording engineer and taught voice lessons for various multi-teacher studios in addition to teaching privately.
He specializes in musical theatre and contemporary pop/rock styles, coaches actors and singer-songwriters in their performance, and works in gender-affirming voice care for trans and non-binary individuals. His favorite music direction credits include GODSPELL with Hornet’s Nest Theatre (MD, Conductor, Keys 2), NEWSIES with The Arlington Players (MD), and BRIGHT STAR with The Little Theatre of Alexandria (AMD, Keys 2). As an actor and performer himself, some of his past roles in musical theatre include Gabe in NEXT TO NORMAL, Spot Conlon in NEWSIES, Jack in INTO THE WOODS, Chuck Cranston in FOOTLOOSE, Horton the Elephant in SEUSSICAL, and Lumiere in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. He has also sung with multiple choirs, vocal jazz groups, and a cappella groups.
