Phil Chen

Phil Chen has worked in the technology industry since 2002. Phil began their career at AT&T as a Network Engineer, where they were responsible for the monitoring and troubleshooting of 896+ enterprise hosting/colocation clients. In 2003, Phil was the founding Systems Architect and second employee of SIPphone Inc., where they architected and deployed the SIP and STUN VOIP network infrastructure for a successful product launch. Phil also co-founded Systems Watch in 2015, a monitoring service that enables proactive systems scaling via machine learning. In the same year, Phil was also the CTO and co-founder of Wrapify, a crowdsourced advertising technology platform. From 2016 to 2019, Phil worked at Amazon Web Services as a Sr. Cloud Architect, where they designed cloud computing architectures and created proof of concepts leveraging Amazon Web Services. Phil then joined VSKIP as a Principal in 2018 and Tiled in 2019, where they served as a Sr. DevOps Engineer, Sr. Security Engineer, and Sr. SRE respectively. At Tiled, Phil architected and implemented Tiled platforms Kubernetes AWS CI/CD Pipelines, led Tiled's first ever SOC 2 Type 1 and subsequent SOC 2 Type 2 security and compliance audits, and implemented custom monitoring and KPI dashboards with Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana, and CloudWatch.

Phil Chen received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a minor in Sociology of Social Control from San Diego State University in 1998. In 2017, they obtained two certifications from Amazon Web Services: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate and AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
