Grant Hall has over 30 years of work experience in the field of drainage and water management. Grant started their career in 1988 as a Work Group Manager at Opus International Consultants, where they worked until 2003. During this time, they also worked as a Contractor for the Samoa Water Supply in 1995 and for Interoute SA from 1992 to 1993. In 2003, Grant joined the Timaru District Council as a Drainage and Water Manager, a position they still hold.
Grant Hall attended Queen Charlotte College in Picton, NZ from 1972 to 1976. It is unknown whether they obtained a degree or studied a specific field during this time. Grant then enrolled at the University of Canterbury, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Civil Engineering from 1977 to 1983. Following this, Grant pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) as well as a Diploma of Imperial College in Public Health Engineering at Imperial College London from 1986 to 1987.
