Senior Scientist Opto-mechatronics at TNO

Gijs van der Veen is a highly experienced engineer with a focus on optomechatronics, control systems, and medical radiotherapy technologies. Currently serving as a Senior Scientist Integrator Optomechatronics at TNO, Gijs leads control engineering efforts for the EAGLE-1 Optical Ground Station, developing subsystems for precise laser communication. Previous roles include Senior Principal Engineer at Nexperia, where Gijs contributed to next-generation die bonding technology, and Principal Engineer at The Netherlands Cancer Institute, focusing on advancements in radiotherapy treatment planning. Gijs’s extensive background includes postdoctoral research at Delft University of Technology and experience in wind energy and flow cytometry software development, complemented by a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering.
