Vedat Coskun has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Vedat began their career as a Naval Captain in the Turkish Navy, serving from 1976 to 2005. Following their retirement, they joined the Turkish Naval Academy as the Chairman of the Department of Computer Engineering from 2001 to 2005. Vedat then worked at Isik University as the Chairman of the Department of IT & MIS from 2005 to 2018. During this time, they also served as a Professor of Computer Engineering at Beykent University from 2018 to 2022. In 2008, Vedat Coskun founded and managed the NFC Research Lab, a pioneering research lab focusing on mobile technologies, smart phones, smart cards, and Near Field Communication. Vedat continued their entrepreneurial journey by joining Turcom as an R&D Director and R&D Project Manager from 2022 to 2023. Currently, Vedat Coskun holds the position of a Professor of Software Engineering at Atlas University since September 2022.
Vedat Coskun holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School, which they completed from 1988 to 1990. Vedat further pursued their education in Computer Engineering at Yildiz Technical University, earning a Ph.D. in 1998. Prior to that, Vedat received their Bachelor's Degree in Navy/Marine ROTC, Naval Science and Operations from Turkish National Defense University, graduating in 1984. Vedat completed their high school education at Heybeliada Naval High School from 1976 to 1980.
