Gerald Ponath

Gerald Ponath has extensive experience in the field of research, specifically in the areas of neuroscience, stem cells, and mental health. Gerald is currently employed as a Senior Scientist at TolerogenixX GmbH, starting in November 2020. Prior to this, they worked at Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Neurology, where they held the position of Associate Research Scientist from December 2012 to November 2020. In this role, they critically evaluated scientific advances, integrated knowledge into research programs, and conducted disease-in-a-dish studies using cell-based immunoassays. Before joining Yale, Gerald worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Ohio State University, Department of Pharmacology from November 2009 to November 2012. During this time, they provided expertise in cellular and molecular techniques, conducted in vitro experiments, and validated genetic and genomic studies. Gerald also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University Hospital of Münster, Department of Mental Health from September 2002 to October 2009. In this role, they contributed to setting up a new research laboratory focused on cell biology, genetics, and biomarker research. Gerald was responsible for various tasks including assessing cellular inflammation, conducting fluorescence microscopy live imaging, handling gene-knockout mice, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Additionally, they implemented translational studies and collaborated on clinical research projects.

Gerald Ponath holds a Ph.D. in Neuroimmunology, which they earned from Philipps University of Marburg. Gerald completed their doctoral studies from 1999 to 2003. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Human Biology from the same university, completing their studies from 1994 to 1999. In addition to their academic qualifications, Gerald Ponath has also achieved various certifications in project management, including "Managing Project Stakeholders" from the Project Management Institute and "Project Management Foundations: Requirements," "Project Management Foundations: Small Projects," and "Project Management Foundations: Teams" from LinkedIn.
