Troop Sergeant Major Peter O’Connell retired from active duty in May 2018 after 28 years of service in the Special Operations community, including five years in the British Royal Marines Commandos, seven years in the British Special Boat Service, and 16 years in the Australian Special Air Service Regiment.
During his tenure, Mr. O’Connell conducted more than 20 combat deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and several other missions worldwide. His many combat commendations include the Star of Gallantry, eight Active Combat Medals, two Citations for Gallantry, two Meritorious Unit Citations, the Infantry Combat Badge, and a Joint Service Commendation Medal. Mr. O’Connell was chosen to attend the Military Personnel Exchange Program in the United States, where he served with Naval Special Warfare Development Group for over two years in a Trident Squadron.
Upon retirement, Mr. O’Connell decided to relocate to the U.S. and is now in the role of Senior Vice President of Tomahawk Strategic Solutions. It was a natural transition for Mr. O’Connell, allowing him to utilize his 28 years of tactical experience to educate and train law enforcement and private sector personnel.
Mr. O’Connell was born in the United Kingdom and lived in Glasgow, Scotland, until he was 18. He graduated from the Commando Training Center Royal Marines (CTCRM) in 1991 and completed United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) selection and continuation training in 1996.
