Michelle Avery

Michelle Avery, PhD has a diverse work experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Michelle is currently the VP of Corporate Affairs at Tome Biosciences, starting in October 2021. Previously, they served as the Senior Director of Investor Relations at Pandion Therapeutics from September 2020 to April 2021, where they led the investor relations and corporate communications efforts until the company's acquisition by Merck.

Prior to that, they held multiple roles at Summit Therapeutics from September 2015 to August 2020. Michelle first served as the Director of Investor Relations and Patient Engagement, responsible for US investor relations, corporate communications, and global patient engagement. Later, they became the Senior Director in the same areas, leading the company through a rebrand from a rare disease focus to an antibiotics-focused company.

Before their roles at Summit Therapeutics, they worked at MacDougall Biomedical Communications from February 2015 to September 2015. There, they worked as a Senior Account Executive, collaborating with investor and media relations teams and managing various life science companies.

Michelle Avery's work experience also includes positions as a Graduate Student at the University of Massachusetts Medical School from August 2005 to April 2011, where they earned their PhD, and as a Registrar Student Assistant at Skidmore College from September 2003 to May 2005, helping with student registration and other office-related tasks. Michelle started their career as a Sales Associate at Aeropostale from July 2002 to January 2005.

Michelle Avery, PhD obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience and Dance from Skidmore College, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. Michelle further pursued their education at UMass Chan Medical School from 2005 to 2010, where they earned their doctoral degree in Neuroscience. In 2018, Michelle completed a certificate program in Financial Accounting from Harvard Business School Online. Later in 2020, they participated in another online program offered by Harvard Business School, earning a Certificate of Participation with Distinction in Developing Yourself as a Leader.
