Dave Howells

Dave Howells has extensive work experience in various senior management positions. Dave began their career as an Accounting Trainee at Deloitte & Touche in 1987. Dave then worked as a Financial Manager at Colgate-Palmolive from 1991 to 1995. From 1996 to 1997, they served as the Group Finance Manager at Lonrho Sugar Corporation.

In 1997, Howells joined Illovo Sugar Africa, where they held several roles over the years. Dave started as a Group Financial Controller, leading a team responsible for consolidated financial reporting and treasury management. Dave achieved notable success in negotiating syndicated bank loans totaling $100 million.

From 2009 to 2018, Howells served as the Managing Director of Illovo Sugar South Africa. In this role, they oversaw multiple departments and played a key role in the company's South African operations, leading to significant revenue generation and operating profit.

Most recently, Howells joined Tongaat Hulett in 2021 as the Managing Director for South Africa, taking on the responsibility of leading the company's operations in the country.

Dave Howells has a degree in accounting science from Westville Boys' High and the University of South Africa. Dave is also a chartered accountant, obtained through the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Dave obtained their certification from SAICA in 1990.
