Johan Diels has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Johan co-founded Toolsquare in December 2017 and served as the Chief Information Officer. In 2018, they became a self-employed Full Stack Web Developer until April 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a System Analyst and Full Stack Web Developer at Palmers-Stokmans BVBA from September 2016 to December 2017. From 2012 to 2016, Johan worked as a Translator in a freelance capacity. Johan also has experience as a System Analyst at Scanfor bvba, where they were involved in the conceptual development of a software platform. Johan started their career as a Researcher at Quercus ANCN, specializing in ecosystem service identification and quantification. Johan later worked as a Campaign Coordinator at the Portuguese Platform for Sustainable Agriculture and as a Researcher at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, focusing on the socio-economic and environmental impacts of genetically modified foods. Johan's early experience includes being a Campaign Coordinator at Gaia - grupo de ação e intervenção ambiental.
Johan Diels obtained a Master's Degree in Governance and Development from the University of Antwerp in 2004-2005. Prior to that, they also received another Master's Degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Antwerp from 2000-2004. In addition to their academic qualifications, Johan obtained a certification in the Belgian Technical Cooperation - General Cycle from the Belgian Development Agency in January 2006.
