Derek Niess

Derek Niess is a Senior Software Engineer at TopBloc since November 2020, having progressed from Software Engineer to Software Engineer II. In addition, Derek serves as the Founder of Substratum LLC, where software consulting and smart contract auditing are the primary focuses. Previous experience includes a Software Engineer Internship at Monument Labs, Inc., where features for embedded/cloud architectures were developed, and an AV Researcher role at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, involving research on autonomous vehicle systems. Derek also completed a Senior Engineer Internship at SAI Advanced Power Solutions, INC., where responsibilities included drafting electrical schematics and designing CAD macros. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
